Fixing VirtualBox crashing macOS on high load (Kernel Panic). (VirtualBox randomly Kernel Panicking MacOS) and it was driving me crazy since my work involves a lot of VM creation/destruction (Test Kitchen testing for Chef). Changing this setting finally solved the issue for me. Solved, seems to be that mac has to reboot several times during the installation process and that causes virtual box to crash reporting the irrecoverable error ¨ guru meditation ¨ but if you simply restart, the machine will continue with the installation to the end. After I upgraded my Mac OS from version 10.15.7 to Big Sur 11.0.1, the Virtualbox VM crashed all the time. Erro message is below: Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908) Make sure the kernel module has been loaded successfully. Lately updated to VirtualBox 5.1.28 r117968 (Qt5.6.2), with Windows 10. AND I do have a 4K LG Ultra monitor attached. Since the update of VB my MacBook crashed a couple of time, untill MacOS reset the screen resolution to the lowest resolution and then VirtualBox does not crash my MacBook. This is commonly due to bugs in VirtualBox. VirtualBox installs itself as a kernel extension directly into the lowest level of kernel software running on your Mac affecting stability of the system as a whole. This is why you need to enter an administrative user’s password in order to install VirtualBox.
